Imo State Governor and Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF), Senator Hope Uzodimma, has intensified efforts to promote President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, shifting attention away from recent criticisms directed at him by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
Rather than responding to the growing public exchanges, Uzodimma, who also serves as Director-General of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors (RHA), has moved to deepen grassroots mobilisation and public communication aimed at consolidating support for the Tinubu administration ahead of the 2027 general election.
As part of the renewed push, the RHA is set to launch an expanded media and public enlightenment campaign designed to showcase the achievements of the Federal Government and strengthen engagement with Nigerians at the grassroots.
Speaking on the initiative, the Director of Logistics of the RHA, Shehu Bala Usman, disclosed that the new phase of the campaign would include weekly television programmes and a broader deployment of digital and social media platforms.
According to him, the strategy is aimed at educating citizens on government policies, countering misinformation and ensuring that the administration’s reform agenda is effectively communicated across the country.
“We are deploying digital and new media platforms to enlighten the public on government policies, provide accurate information on reforms and deepen engagement with citizens at the grassroots level,” Usman said.
The development comes amid recent calls by a group of lawyers urging the FCT Minister to refrain from what they described as personal attacks on the Imo State governor to avoid distractions and ensure cohesion within the President’s re-election campaign structure.
Despite the controversy, Uzodimma has continued to focus on strengthening the communication and mobilisation framework of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors.
The organisation had earlier unveiled a digital platform intended to aggregate policy information, government reform updates and expert analysis, while integrating social media channels to broaden public participation and feedback.
Its structure has also been expanded beyond the national level to include coordinators in the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with operational networks extending to local governments, wards and polling units.
Political observers view the latest media initiative as part of Uzodimma’s broader strategy to transform communication into a major mobilisation tool ahead of the next presidential election.
At a national mobilisation retreat held in Abuja in June, the governor warned that poor communication of government policies could create negative public perceptions and undermine public understanding of ongoing reforms.
He subsequently unveiled an ambitious grassroots mobilisation plan covering Nigeria’s 176,846 polling units, with 25 canvassers assigned to each unit, a structure expected to produce more than 4.4 million grassroots mobilisers nationwide.
Uzodimma has consistently used the Renewed Hope Ambassadors platform to galvanise support for President Tinubu’s second-term aspiration, directing national and state coordinators to intensify awareness campaigns on the administration’s policies and programmes.
The latest move signals a deliberate effort by the governor to move beyond political disputes and focus on building nationwide support for the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
According to the RHA, the media campaign is being positioned not only as a public information initiative but also as a grassroots communication network capable of taking the administration’s message to communities, markets, campuses, wards and polling units across the country ahead of the 2027 elections.
Uzodimma has repeatedly maintained that the 2027 presidential election will serve as a referendum on the Tinubu administration’s reform agenda, stressing that supporters must take a more active role in communicating the achievements and objectives of the government to Nigerians.
