Lafarge Africa Plc has formally changed its corporate name to HBM Nigeria Plc, marking a significant milestone in the company’s ongoing rebranding and strategic repositioning.
The company disclosed in a notification to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) dated June 23, 2026, that the name change has received all necessary regulatory and shareholder approvals, signalling a new phase in its corporate evolution.
According to the statement, the rebranding reflects the company’s “evolved business vision, long-term growth objectives, and renewed commitment to delivering superior value to stakeholders.”
The cement manufacturer noted that shareholders approved the name change at its Annual General Meeting held on April 30, 2026. It also confirmed that the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has issued a new Certificate of Incorporation, formally recognising the transition to HBM Nigeria Plc.
“The name change received full shareholder approval at the AGM and has been duly registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission,” the company stated.
Despite the change in corporate identity, the firm assured investors that existing share certificates and electronic holdings remain valid. It added that all necessary updates would be handled automatically by its registrars, ensuring a seamless transition for shareholders.
The development has been communicated to the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX), as well as other stakeholders and the investing public.
Market watchers view the rebranding as part of a broader alignment with its parent company’s global identity and strategic direction, particularly as it seeks to strengthen its positioning within Nigeria’s highly competitive building materials sector.
HBM Nigeria Plc expressed appreciation to regulators, shareholders and other stakeholders for their continued support, reiterating its commitment to maintaining high standards of corporate governance and operational excellence.
The company was formerly known as Lafarge Africa Plc, one of the leading cement producers listed on the Nigerian Exchange.
